My favorite essential oils and how to use them

Essential oils are something I have been using for a very long time. They have a long history of safe, effective, therapeutic use in many different cultures. Essential oils are plants are distilled into a liquid form, which is very concentrated, so you don’t need a lot for them to work.

Essential Oils can be used in a variety of different ways. They can be used in a diffuser so that they’re dispersed throughout the air. They can be used topically, either directly on the skin or in a massage oil base. They can also be used internally. Not all oils should be used internally though so you have to be careful about which ones you can and which ones you can’t.

I carry a bottle of peppermint oil with me everywhere I go and I’ve done this for years. It’s really, really great for digestion. So if I’m having any kind of digestive disturbance, I could either rub some on my tummy or take one drop and put it on my tongue and it instantly helps my stomach feel better. It also gives you a little bit of a lift as peppermint is very refreshing. Topically, peppermint oil is great for itching. If you get a mosquito bite, you could put a little peppermint oil on the bite and it will help with the itching.

I keep a bottle of lavender oil right next to my bed and I put like five or six drops on my pillow case every night before I go to sleep. Sometimes I even put a couple of drops on the bottom of my feet or on the back of my ears and it really helps me to relax as I’m getting into bed and the smell is amazing, of course.

Clove is really good for tooth pain. If you put a drop of clove around the gum area where you have tooth pain it will help.

I’ve been recently using frankincense oil for sun spots on my face. I just apply a couple of drops onto my skin and it has definitely helped. I wouldn’t say they’re gone completely, but they have definitely diminished since I’ve been using it.

You can also blend your essential oils. Some companies sell them already mixed into a blend or you could do it yourself. I make a blend for a hand sanitizer that I use at my clinic everyday instead of the harsh drying type of hand sanitizers. I just combine five or six different oils together, add a little bit of water, add a little bit of olive oil, shake it up and I have my own homemade hand sanitizer.

Some of the oils that are in that blend are oils that kill germs like tea tree oil and eucalyptus oil. I also add lavender and geranium, and a few others to it. You can use blends for immune function, relaxation, digestion, and many other functions. Make sure you purchase your essential oils from a high quality company.

So if you have any personal favorites, why don’t you go ahead and let me know in the comments below. I’d love to know if you’re using oils, how you’re using oils, which oils, which company you’re using. So please share.
