Reflections on getting older…. a personal blog

Getting older does not necessarily mean getting sicker, nor falling apart. As many of you know, I just turned 45 years old. I am healthier now than I was 25 years ago. I am a normal weight for my height. I do not take any prescription medications. I do not have any chronic diseases, although many run in my family such as: cancer, diabetes, heart disease, thyroid disease and kidney stones. None of these are building up either because I check my levels through lab testing on a regular basis. I sleep 7-9 hours per night. I wake up every day and have the energy to take on my day and go to work. I meditate almost every day. I work out 2-3 times per week. I am not a vegetarian. I do not have health insurance and refuse to get it.

Now let’s back track to 25 years ago. I was slightly overweight. I had clinical depression and was suicidal. I was on many medications. I had severe gastrointestinal issues and struggled with pain on a regular basis. I only had a bowel movement once or twice a week! I worked out about 4-5 times a week. My diet was pretty awful. I didn’t have much energy at all and slept all the time.

How did I get from where I was then to where I am now? I would say the key items were education, stress management, nutrition, lifestyle modifications and nutraceuticals (vitamins, herbs, etc.). Oh and I can’t leave out mentioning the late Dr. Wayne Dyer, his books and audios influenced me more than any other person to this day. So remember, you are not a product of your genetics, your genetics are altered by the way you live and your environment.

So why am I telling you all of this? Because I want you to realize that it is never too late to turn your life and your health around. After I changed my health for the better I was inspired to do the same for others, that is how I ended up in the health field. That is why I am here for you now. I do not just stick needles in people to relieve their pain. I educate and inspire my patients to get to the best place they can attain with their health. Is it always easy? No. Can I help everyone? No. But I can help those who are ready to make a change and believe in the power of the body to heal itself if just given the chance. I have many allopathic doctor friends and respect them dearly but they are generally not there to get you healthier, they are there to manage your disease or help you in an emergency situation, so if you are looking for another way to take control of your health, please contact my office to set up a free consultation.

Yours in health,
